Studio Policies
Student Expectations:
We ask that whenever possible the student be left alone with the teacher during the lesson. If circumstances do not allow for that then we ask that those in the room remain quiet and respectful during the lesson. We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave if we feel that they are impeding the learning environment of our students. We also reserve the right to terminate all lessons with the student if a resolution cannot be found.
Attendance and Make Ups:
Students are expected to be on time to all lessons and recitals. The 30 minutes starts at the scheduled time, not when the student arrives.
If a lesson needs to be cancelled please give at least 24 hours notice. If a lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice then the student will be charged for the lesson.
We will allow one make-up lesson each semester.
Practicing:
Older students are expected to practice at least 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes. Younger students are also expected to practice at least 5 days a week but the required time may vary. Parents, please encourage students to practice and help younger students who have difficulty practicing on their own. If you are uncomfortable helping your child practice at home please talk to us and we can help you find resources to aid you, or consider taking lessons yourself and learning side by side with your child!
House Rules:
No food or drink will be allowed during lessons. Please make sure student's shoes are removed and hands are washed before the start of each lesson.
- Students should arrive to their lesson on time.
- Students should come to lessons with all of their books and sheet music. We will not teach a student who does not have their practice material.
- Students should have practiced at least 5 times the previous week. This is important. If no practice has happened then no progress will have been made which makes it extremely difficult for the teacher to help the student develop.
